I believe the first stainless came out about 1983 and "Ultimate" bright stainless steel came out in 1985, both were listed in the 1985 catalog. In that same catalog, they list the SS as available in 2 1/2", 4", and 6" only, no 8". My 1995 catalog list them as available in 4", 6" and 8" in either bright stainless or matte stainless and then they were probably discontinued in 1997 when the Python Elite came out in stainless. Hope this is of some help.
