I agree, they are very interesting. I suspect the holes are for a missing letter. Also I think the material is pewter but I could be wrong. I wish there was more info about them but they appear to be pretty old and definitely unique. Thanks to the OP for posting them.

I agree with Eastwoodfan, those holes look like there was another letter there at one time. The placement of the letters almost appears as an after thought since they cover some of the engraving.

I kinda like those. They're not as detailed as Sid Bell's work, but they do have an Americana type look to them, a folk art style. Any indication of who made them...maybe something on the other side?

I didn't see anything. The grips appeared to be aluminum. The gold components did test to be gold of some sort. They were having a hard time getting it to react the same each time to the test fluids.
