It looks very much like the "Colt" Ranger shown on the last page.

 

These guns are Post 1900.

 

I can judge only by what other collectors are telling and I was told that post 1900 stamped Nitro, pre 1900 blackpowder with L and crown on top

 

The inside of those grips don't look like bone to me. I'm thinking catalin (Sp?) or some type of synthetic.

These flooded the American markets in the 20's and beyond.

Just so you know - parts will 'not' exchange with an actual Colt Lightning - many, many have been purchased by C&WAS guys trying to repair their originals and found this out the hard way.

 

Van Heflin had one of these with the same grips at the end of Shane.

yes but they made mistake identifying Joey Starrett's Stevens rifle, website states Crackshot when boy clearly shoots Favorite ....

 

I know this is an older post, but I recently bought a Belgium Colt clone. It is the same stamp, the side barrel "Texas Ranger " on the top of the barrel it is stamped
For 38 colts special ctgs. Mine is also missing the ejector unit, I am trying to make one out of a Ruger ejector it does not quite fit but some cutting and filing and it should work. The barrel is pretty clean with some rifling and shiny. I have put some primed cases through it and they go bang so I put one snake shot round and it did very well.
I hope to get to fire some light reloads through it soon, it will never be a more than occasional one or two shot gun but fun to let it get some exercise after all these years.
