Had to do a simple task on a Detective Special. Just needed to replace the hammer on a friend's DS. Had never really needed to do much other than removing the side plate for some cleaning and lubricating for any of my Colt revolvers. I've owned Colts for a long time, got my first Trooper III back in the 70's. They really don't need a lot of attention but... so, dusting off the manual now and then is a good thing. As my lawyer daughter remided me recently, I raised her to "RTFM" (read the f'n manual). Jerry Kuhnhausen's shop manual for Colt Revolvers came in handy. Got his 1911 Vol 1 and Mauser manuals recently from a friend. Good values and good books.
Just say'n.
