The age old question: What's it worth???

815 Views 9 Replies 8 Participants Last post by  MARKO65
I have a gentlemen who has these two guns that I have thought about buying. I must say I am distracted by the shine, and I like it

400 of these "Royal Stainless" Talo edition of the Colt Gold Cup. Both have original box and docs and have never been fired

I guess, I'm asking what its worth... or maybe a better question of. What would you pay for both of them

Someone thought highly enough of one of these to pay $2500 for it.

Colt Royal Stainless Gold Cup Talo NIB : Semi Auto Pistols at GunBroker.com

Here's another at the same price - http://www.gunauction.com/buy/12630...less-gold-cup-.45-talo-exclusive-1-of-400-nib

... and here some guy paid $3500 to benefit a shooting team... http://taloinc.com/blog/?p=213
That was the only auction I found on it from gun broker, makes it a little hard to justify spending that much money though. The gun sure is beautiful, no doubt about that

the age old answer is that they're worth what someone is willing to pay, as proven by the 2 buyers in the 2 links posted.

what would I pay? I really don't know, but they are beautiful pistols.

They are polished SS GCTs with a flat top so Series 80 Colt. I could see $2.2K for the pair. Saw one go at a real auction several months ago for $1K. I stopped bidding at $800.
tome they are worth around 1300-1500 a pop,but that is me and I would be buying as shooters. YMMV
Talo's site shows the gun, as you point out, to be one of 400. No overwhelming interest for me but certainly beautiful pistols! Were I to buy them I would not get into them for more than $3500-$3600 for the pair.

ymmv ???????????????????
Thanks guys, I was kind of thinking that 3K for the pair would be top that I would want to pay. The gentlemen wants 5K for the pair. Beautiful guns, but not worth that much to me
The age old answer ... "What somneone will pay for it"
