The Coolest 2nd Generations Colt SAAs Of All

I think that honor goes to the 1873/1973 Centennials. I don't think I've ever seen a cavalry .45 in person, but I do have one of the .44-40s. These were dead on like the early guns. If you have one (hello, Swamprat!), let's see it. Mine came in the case with eagle grips, but here it is pimped out.

Mine's the Cavalry version, but I had Dave Lanara turn it into the 5 1/2" barrel 'Artillery' version.

Yup -- it is the coolest of the 2nd Generations.
Wyatt: any idea how many were made in each caliber? I've never seen one locally.

As far as the nickel ones go, I think I remember the number 2002 kicked around, but I'm not sure. And Dogface6, you must show us that gun.

Colt made 1500 Peacemaker Centennials in 44/40 and 1500 in .45 Colt. Colt also made 500 sets which included both revolvers. The .45 Colts were made to look like the early cavalry issues SAAs and are pretty nice in their own right.

Here are both the Cavalry and Frontier Six Shooter models. I was fortunate to pick of the boxed pair a few years ago. The pairs have matched S/Ns that are different from the un-paired runs. Wyatt, I just looked again and noticed yours has after market pearl grips. Cool!

I knew "swamprat" had one and it is much better looking in person than the photo! it looked so good, I did not want to touch it without cotton gloves on, LOL!

OK - until I can get a photo - mine looks like this one, but with a properly-period-marked 5 1/2" barrel, with the narrow front sight blade and an 'RAC' cartouche on the right side of the grip.
hey WYATT that 44-40 in the leather box looks like a twin to my colt///////////////////

I think This one is the coolest one of all, because It`s all mine! The 7.5 incher I don't rightly feel is mine, because I plan to sell it someday, but if I ever shoot it ,then things will be different.

Very nice! Engraved and one-piece ivories! Did they come that way from Colt?

I don't know about the ivories; the engraving in non-factory. This set is currently available from Cherry's for 9K if anyone is interested. I have no connection to these fine Colts other than admiration.
