Welcome Kevin! amazing the photos you can see on the web those days. Is the rifle on the troopers horse a trap door Springfield?
Looks to be Trap Door Springfield in the horse scabbard...no credit is given in photo caption of article.

I also like the photo of Patton, Bradley, and Montgomery with Bradley looking like a referee waiting for a fight to break out.

( ** Hey Perry...I can't copy the aforementioned Patton pic to my IMGUR account...can you post it here for me please...Thanks Brother !! ** )

"Monty was a HUGE PRIG. Many of my British friends couldn’t stand him. He lucky George didn’t cap his butt."

Yep, Georgie would probley would have liked Monte to be the 3rd notch on his .45. lol
Patton liked to hang around in the beer bars of El Paso and talk with guys like Texas Ranger Dave Allison and soak up gun lore. IIRC Patton had a A/D with a 1911 in one of the cantinas- seems had been tweaking the trigger pull. He ordered his SAA after that.

George was a warrior general not a political poodle and was just what we needed to beat the hell out of the National Socialist Bastards. He hated National Socialisum and the horse it rode in on, and helped save the world from it.

Sad for the Republic he left us far to soon.

He studied war not tea talk, spoke the truth and was a master of the sword and a bloodied gun fighter.

He would last about 20 minutes in the DOD of today. Thats a damn shame. There will come a time when we will wish we had some George type warrior Generals and not so damn many political poodles.

It probably will be to late.
