Never be embarrassed , every Colt is great to see and yours looks excellent. I appreciate you posting.

Cam.
This is something that I really admire about Cam. No doubt he has one of the finest Colt collections in the country, if not the world. But he always has something kind to say about every one else's guns, regardless of how fine or how modest they may be.

It's 27153
Bingo! Someone once got a letter on this one. What I noted on 27153 was 45/c, 4", Blue, SNL shipped to E. C. Meacham Arms Co., St. Louis, MO on Dec 8, 1890, 10 Guns.

What this is all about - is that about 40 years ago I started an excel sheet on Colt M1878 "Sheriff Models". Your number came up here.

That is really cool!!!
Thanks Jim.
How many listing have you got?
How many Sheriffs do you estimate?
I have 102 SN's listed with some level of descriptions. They range from 2946 up to 51199. Extracted from Wilkerson's book are 1245 of these 1878's with less than 4-3/4" barrels. This indicates that 2.38% of total 1878 production were the so-called "Sheriff Models". Surely there were some 4-3/4" barrels and a very few with >4-3/4", but probably less than 10.
