I'm new here so forgive me if this has been discussed before, but I noticed that the beautiful ivory steer head grips pictured on page 308 of "The Official Record of the Colt Single Action Army Revolver 1873-1895" are identical to the grips on page 278 of that same book. Oddly enough, the SAAs on which they are photographed are both engraved but are from different collections.
Does anyone know if these are modern grips which can be purchased today? Thanks.

I don't think they are the same grips. Looking at the photos with a magnifying glass shows some small differences. They are certainly very similar. Same carver, maybe? I think it would be quite difficult to duplicate these today given the aging of the originals and the current restrictions on ivory sales.
