It’s no safe queen. But, I’ve wanted one for years! Since I was a teenager……

This one is from 1957.

Ask was $1,000 plus tax. Got it for $900 OTD. That may be too much. But, I’m very happy with it. I now actually have a Sweet Sixteen!!! 🙂

Those were prized when I was a kid and almost unobtainable now. Congratulations.

I recall them being a major stepping stone in shogun maturing. Proving you didn't 'need' a 12 ga. and demonstrating taste in design and presentation.

I was never much of a wing-shot, but at 12 I was loaned an Auto-5 for the day of hunting and clay pigeons by a family friend, a WWII vet. I did so well with it he gave me the skeet thrower at the end of the day. Still have never gotten one though...

Yet another score by the Pawn Shop King!

My Father-in-Law was a big 16ga fan and had the Remington version in 16ga. When he passed, neither of his sons wanted his shotguns so my Child Bride ended up with them.
He had the stock shortened to fit his wife and a Poly Choke put on the front end. It still shoots pretty well but that short stock is a bit tough on me.

You don't have lead in your backside - you have a magnet!
Well done!

Nice Browning Auto 5. I have the Remington Model 11 which is a near carbon copy. Great shooters. I cleaned several rounds of skeet shooting mine. Never had a malfunction.

I inherited one from my favorite uncle who supposedly bought the first one that hit Charlotte North Carolina in the early 50 s I got a couple cases of shells tucked away and today’s kids don’t understand the allure but they are a very sexy shotgun !!

Congratulations on your new Sweet Sixteen cda!
I always wanted an Auto-5 since I was a teenager too and eventually acquired this Sweet Sixteen and another older 16 gauge. I've never shot it, one of these days I will. I think it was made in the 50's because it has an S prefix.

We have a Savage 720 12 gauge that has been cut down 20 inches.
I had a Remington Model 11 20 gauge, and it was a sweetheart.
And I did have a Browning "Light Twelve."

Good find! Like you I always lusted for the Sweet Sixteen. Finally got a clean one a few years ago, and it too came from a pawn shop in Dallas, Tx. I also as a teen wanted a A5, couldn’t afford it back in the late 60’s. Got a Light Twelve A5 a few years ago at an almost give away price. Someone had put a Cutts Choke on it. The Cutts performs fine but I don’t like the look…looks like someone stuck a plum on the end of the barrel. Wish 16 gauge shells were easier to fine and cheaper. Always liked the 16 gauge, I have several. Enjoy your Sweet Sixteen I think you’ ll find it to be the most natural pointing shotgun you have…light and fast.

16 ga. is far and away my favorite shotgun round. I have several and like each of them for various reasons.

16 as others have said is a fine gauge, my personal favorite for a do-all aside from ammo availability. Have yet to own a semi-auto in it though - nice find. :)
