hello all,
new member here. i joined because im starting to own more colts and the guys at s&w forum dont want to talk about them . j.k.:p
i had asked this same question over there and was suggested i ask it here as well, to get a more balanced reply.
the trade is done now but the question was: should i trade my 66-2 in pretty good condition for a m357 with a worn finish but perfect mechanics?
i did the trade straight across...hope i did ok, value wise. at least i got a "new" gun to play with, thats the main thing
comments?

Welcome to the Dark Side :)
IMHO you did well. Is it a 4" or 6" barrel? If it has Target Stocks, they are worth the same, maybe more, than S&W N Frame Cokes. The 357 model is getting harder to find and will only appreciate as any fine Colt revolver.
p.s. I'm also a member "over there"
You did OK unless it was a 66-2 3" barrel, Which are pretty desireable.
i'll take a blued revolver over a ss revolver every time. the colt 357 is one fine revolver.
kamloops67, I think you did well. If you did get the full checkered target stocks on the 3-5-7, you are well ahead. As Revolver stated, the 3" M-66 is quite hard to find and that one would be worth more; maybe double a 4" or 6" M-66. I also value the 2-1/2" M-66's about 20% higher than the 4" & 6" ones.
These are just my opinions.
Welcome to the Colt Forum. We even discuss S&W's.
hey guys, thanks for the replies . both guns are 6" barrels the stocks are a chequered service stock .
the smith wasnt perfect and was missing original stocks etc.. if had been a 66 nd i probably would have kept it
also im a canadian so no 4" revolvers for me, as they are prohibited (grrr.) but i have a few 4 1/4" barrels though.

The deal sounds even better.
I was in the beautiful city of Vancouver last spring. It was a great place to visit. I see Kamloops is more inland. I guess it gets colder there.
Cheers I am sure it was a fair trade ; )
well ,ill guess you'll have to wait and see :) small world.
im looking forward to "the colt experience" my 8" officers model thinks its a rifle ,but i dont want to shoot that old girl too much. it has a special history.
ive an old new service that ive not yet fired as well, need to make some ammo for it . soon .
the 357 seems like a perfect shooter to get the colt experience, i wonder how itll stack up against smith&wessons..:):)
The 66 in a snub version is very desirable, as is the colt. I think it was a fair trade all around. If you are pleased with what you got, then it was a great trade.
