I saw the picture first and thought, "That looks like that Sears gun in the Wilson Colt book!" and then read it. What's the story on this one, Tim? did you just have this done or what? That engraving is as good as it gets. Who did it?

Thanks, Matt. The gun was engraved by Dennis Kies in 1996, back when USFA was known as U.S. Patent Fire Arms. The pattern was referred to as the "Sears Gun" as it was inspired by the original Sears Catalog Colt SAA. It was USFA's first master "D" coverage engraved gun. I've owned it for a number of years but only recently took photos.

Too bad they stopped making SAA guns. They really put out a great product. I had 4 of them and sold them thinking I can always get another, well the yoke is on me. Sorry I ever did. Oh back to the topic. I love the gun and the work. I also have one but engraved by John Adams Sr. with ivory grips but with out the gold. I thought the gold cost was high at that time but another screw up on my part who knew. Oh mine also has the case frame but done in the sears style.

I love engraved firearms. What a marvelous example of the engravers art. The deep blue with gold inlay is striking. Thanks for sharing.

Hopalong, I will just say this. I would rather have your gun over any other SAA made by any manufacturer other than the original Colt. People don't know how to admire a work of art. Your gun is a magnificent piece of work and should be looked as such. I love Colts but if I couldn't have one my second choice would be USFA. The rest are okay but hold no flame to the two I mentioned. I also feel that only your opinion matters if the gun is worth it or not. I love it wish it was mine. If I was going to buy a Ruger and put all that money into engraving it, well lets just say I would choose to do something else with that cash. Like I said one beautiful looking six shooter.
