CAMP PERRY SINGLE SHOT .22LR WITH EXTRA BREECH ASSEMBLY AND BARREL BY H. M. POPE! This is a most unusual and fantastic Camp Perry set for a number of reasons. First, the complete pistol is serial number 555 (made 1927) and is in beautiful overall condition with only minor edge wear and bright perfect bore. Now for the unusual part: the extra barrel is marked "H.M.Pope" and the breech is serial numbered "10" and is unmarked (when regular production began in 1926 at serial number 100 all breeches were marked "Camp Perry Model"). Serial numbered guns 1 - 63 were experimental prototypes - I've had a few of these and they are all slightly different and often have really interesting factory letters. Several, including #5, are shown in The Book of Colt Firearms by R. L. Wilson. None of these experimentals has a marked breech. The grips on this piece are of the early non-standard Camp Perry production deep-dish medallion variety with the diamond around the screw hole and inside are serial numbered 10 (matching the extra breech assembly). Harry Pope was one of the most famous barrel makers and single shot rifle shooters. His products are always sought after and rarely offered for sale. He worked his magic on very few pistols. The extra assembly is likewise in superb condition. This set also comes with a group of extra hammers, triggers, sights, springs and small parts for the Camp Perry Colt- at least two hammers are labeled "...skeletonized by Houchins" who I believe was a well known gunsmith of the time - incredible workmanship / machining etc. Asking $4550
