I wouldn't trust rem oil for a long term storage protector. Maybe a coat of renaissance wax? Don't feel the need for the vacuum either but I don't see how it could hurt.

After a good cleaning and a light wipedown with Rem Oil, I vacuum sealed it for long-term storage.
