Looking to sell a M1911A1 to a close friend looking for value.He wants to give me market value but really dont have an idea.Serial #17959xx i think it was made by Rem. Rand gun is 98%.Will try to post pics.Thanks in advance.

as all the experts will tell you.... pictures, pictures, and more pictures. Condition and having all the rights parts to the gun will determine the value.

Get a picture of the main spring housing, slide stop, barrel (around the lug), magazine, slide stop, hammer, and a good clear picture of the slide and frame. The clearer the better.

Colt's look-up site indicates this to be: "1944 model 1911 military". An archive letter would grant more info perhaps.

For a decent evaluation, as indicated above, photos would be your best bet in getting intelligent data.

That serial number block was assigned to Remington Rand and, as above, dates to 1944.

A photo is almost a must to determine help with $ value. Photoshop is pretty easy to use for free. Just copy the HTTP link of your photo and post it in your thread. Very handy.
