I have the chance to pick up a Model 70, first year manufacture, serial number under 200, original / unfired. Out of curiosity what would be an appropriate price to pay for it?

if it were mine i would not take less than 3k for it .
Reason ---as you say!!! original -Unfired-under 200 serial # ,of course it would have to be 99++++ condition too,
but that is me.
Appropriate price is up to you and seller,an honest offer maybe 2000-2500
Blue Book list it at 2100 but is only a guide, not true value.
It was built in 1936, and if truly un-fired and under 200 serial # it is a rare bird in that condition reguardless of being a standard caliber.
This is my opinion only hopefully others will chime in

I bet if it was put on GB with a lot of good pictures and nice write up it would go for A LOT more than the $2,500 to $3,000s mentioned. Especialy if you had a big name trusted dealer handeling the sale, but if you could get one to handel it they would get a 15% commission or more.
