A local gun dealer has a Colt Police Positive in 38 Special made in 1936 for $325. I would estimate overall finish at 98% with just a hint of wear on the muzzle.

I know little about the Police Positive and wonder if the pricing is reasonable?

If it's in a VALID 98% ORIGINAL condition and OK mechanically, that would be an OK price for a 1936 model.
