I cn't seem to find anyone that makes a holster for the 1847 colt walker. Anyone know of a company that does at a reasonable price?
Thanks, oldCop. Here's a lefty Dragoon holster I made for my Dragoon but sold instead. By just adding a couple more inches and checking out the cylinder area for that little extra length, it would fit a Walker. And I have a Uberti Walker. I'll PM you a price. And besides me, there's other leather guys on here, too.I would guess that Wyatt Burp on this forum could make you one at a reasonable price.
That was the point I was making in an earlier post...'You 'do' understand that Cap'n Gus MacRae from 'Lonesome Dove' notwithstanding, the Walker was carried in pommel holsters.
That's why they were referred to as 'Horse Pistols' and 'Saddle Pistols' and not 'Belt Pistols', and by comparison, the Model 1860 Army was like toting around a D-Frame with a long barrel.
Men of the time were far smaller than now, and it takes a helluva serious belt to hold one of these up - even for the behemoths of this era.
If you can afford an original Walker , you can afford that for a holster. The heck with a copy. Buy an original holster.
yeeee ha.....the new US Calvary......All you need is a beer holder and you got it all ......cept for a nice bikini clad loader
