Watch for shipping cost on Gunbroker.com auctions

Has anyone met the internet auction dealer from hell yet?I think I just met the absolute worse of any auction site yet.
I just messed up on Gunbroker.com buying 3 Zippo lighters.I won the 1st one and the shipping cost was $10.I might have lived with that because I knew I was going to buy 2 others. The seller said he didn't combine shipping cost on multiple auctions, that this aient eBay."Well thank you for telling me" was my responce,"because I surely wont pay $30 to ship 3 Zippo lighters and see that you spent $3.75 to ship them".(Threats don't go too good when the buyer hasn't bought a M/O yet).He kept e-mailing me that he'd contact Gunbroker.com and see what they would do about the fee refund, etc, and more etc..Well after a couple e-mails I finally told him that I offered to pay $10 and the cost of the three Zippos I'd take them, but no other way..Then he said quit e-mailing me.I e-mailed him 3 times to his 12 times,,I counted them....Boy did I get a seller from hell,or else someone with a major disfunction.By the way his handle on GB is TraidenPost .Look at some of his shipping cost would you.I seen one where he asked, and sure he got $100 for shipping a rifle. Most pistols are in the $65 range.Anyway this surely made my day seeing he'd left me negative feedback 3 times.I wouldn't vent my anger on a forum for my screwup dealing with @*%#er's like this but I know this forum is gun related.
I was about to finish this post and seen my email just now. Here is his e-mail to me.

I communicated everything to Gb well in advance of this. They assured me your feedback would be removed. They do not allow retaliatory feedback.

So, enjoy it for the little it lasts. Also, unless I miss my guess, your life on GB is soon to be over as well.

I do think I am either dealing with a woman with PMS or I have just met the devil selling guns. All this because I wanted a Smith & Wesson lighter for my collection.I should have bid on a Colt lighter.
Later guys and enjoy.

Re: Watch for shipping cost on Gunbroker.com aucti

Watching the shipping costs is good advice. There are some variations that can be tolerated. FFL to FFL can be be done inexpensively via USPS, but some dealers understandably don't want to continually go to the PO when UPS picks up and the paperwork is more. Also, there are valid handling and transportation costs these days for those things that are mailed. If a smaller, less valuable item has a disproportionate shipping cost, I just limit my bid to what will result in an overall acceptable price. Also, even though the red lettered terms and conditions may say one thing, it is often different in the description and I believe that is the last word. That is my last word, anyway. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

You are right about that AIA.I have no problems with shipping guns from FFL to FFL and the extra paper work.I figure a fair price on shipping a pistol is between $16 to $30,,which is my low and high I have paid so far.I expect a more expensive cost for more insureance too.....But like I said before,,,,no one is gonna talk me into paying $30 to ship 3 Zippo lighters to me from state to state,,,,neg me or kick me off.I just wont do it.My fault to some degree also as I been buying off the net for years.I wanta urge future bidders on the problems out there that there are still some a-holes who hide behind the "rules are rules",,read the add description dummy stuff.I don't think this guy is a member in this forum because he don't have the class most of you guys have.
Tomorrow I'm going to a gunshow,so I wont have much money left for buying guns anyway after this weekend.

I'm sorry for your pain.....but I had to laugh after reading this. I know EXACTLY what your talking about!

This guy/gal wasn't making a dime off the lighter, rather they were entering the shipping business... /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

I want people to laugh about it.That way you will remember what CAN happen. But the details were not made up and this actually happened this last week.....but I think the devil being a gun dealer might be going overboard,as I don't know this person, and hate to judge people so harshly without actually knowing them.If GB kicks me off then we'll see if he is what I said because all hell will break loose, and we know where the devil lives.
Re: Watch for shipping cost on Gunbroker.com aucti

In any auction you just cannot leave the shipping cost open ended. You MUST ask what it is before you bid.
Re: Watch for shipping cost on Gunbroker.com aucti

Well it happened today.Gunbrokers kicked me off.Guess if my response to the complaint don't get the support team on my side I'll have to register under another nickname and address.Life goes on
Re: Watch for shipping cost on Gunbroker.com aucti

while we all agree, it still does not excuse poor business practices by the saler.....

its kinda like saying,"My house got broken into but I left my door unlocked...."

while your guilty of leaving your door unlocked, it does not excuse the thief.

Re: Watch for shipping cost on Gunbroker.com aucti

Does that mean I deserve what happens to me?
Re: Watch for shipping cost on Gunbroker.com aucti

I would never buy anything from this guy, but his auctions do have all have the shipping cost stated up front. He is obviously a jerk, and a ripoff artist (bottom feeder) for not combining the shipping cost on three small items purchased at the same time.

Flusher has it right. I got ripped off on my very first pistol (not an auction). Paid way too much for a Python (because I was ignorant then) and they charged me $60.00 for shipping which was not discussed up front (my error). I haven't paid more than $25.00 for shipping since then.

I guess GunBroker is like every other money grubbing company. They will support the seller making them a profit first without any consideration for ethical business practice. I don't think you should have been kicked off.

Everything is a lesson learned. Take your lumps and get smarter like I did.

No sir, you no more deserved that than a person who leaves their door unlocked.

My point was, no one deserves to get sh1t on, we should EXPECT others to act right!
