I've been told that the Colt Official Police can handle the old .38/44 round (even stronger than the modern .38+P round) which was the predecessor to the .357 magnum.

How high in pressure and power is the .38/44 compared to say the 9mm or 9mm+P?

Could the Official Police handle the 9mm or 9mm+P if the chambers were refitted to take it? (I'm not planing on doing this, I'd just like to know what kind of pressures that sturdy old gun can handle compared with modern loads of the same caliber. .357 is obviously out as is some of the hotter .38+P+ isn't it?
