Every Electroless Nickle pistol and Python we received from the distributor had the custom shop sticker on the end label and a serial number for an original blue pistol. They were shipped with the finish in place as opposed to returned for Custom refinishing. Pythons and Gold Cups came in an outer box with six boxed pistols or revolvers inside. When we sold five we would get six more. If I remember right we sold them for 100 more than the blue version.

FR:

You may or may not be aware Colt has done three different nickle finishes. I say that because you used the term the nickle finish. Colt ceased or nearly ceased nickle finishes for standard production when Colt started offering stainless steel as an option.

Last I heard Colt had ceased to accept refinishing work as a stand alone request for service. This cessasation was described as temporary. This link should help you discover current refinishing policy and options.

The only nickel finish Colt offers now is for the SAA.

Colt previously offered two electrolytic nickel finishes - one, bright and the second, satin. The other nickel finish was the electroless nickel.

To 'me' a refinished, used gun.

Whether the factory does the work, or a 'restoration specialist' does, it's not original.
