I think a stainless SAA would be a really good basis for engraving. Put a bright polish on it and it resembles new bright nickel. Or it can be finished to resemble antique nickel. Not quite as beautiful as nickel but nothing to peel and no plating expense.

So when your stuff no longer sells, that's the time to offer new products?

No but it's poor business practices to introduce models you can't/won't ever produce. Especially if you don't have the capacity for it. Makes no sense. With USFA history, they need to pick up their game to fill the void.

Sometimes I think a little too much is made of original finishes. The British would think nothing about sending a rifle or shotgun back to Holland & Holland, Westley-Richards, Purdey or the like for refurbishing. I was reading today about one of Theodore Roosevelt's Winchester `86's that he sent back to Winchester no less than five times for refinishing.
