I agree that stainless steel is not an authentic finish for the SAA. However, it certainly resembles nickel so much that it does not look out of place as compared to say, a parkerized, Robar, or camouflage finish :)

After all, in my unofficial survey, I would say the most asked question on the Colt Forum is "I just bought a Python, how can I tell if it's stainless or nickel"

So, do let me know when I can get a Stainless SAA 7 1/2" x 45. It will go well with my Stainless Colt Army and Navy revolvers.

One of these would make a really cool cartridge conversion. If Colt's offered the SAA in stainless I would buy one.

I love stainless guns because the finish can be touched up with a ScotchBrite pad to hide wear and damage. .

That is exactly contrary to what most folks want on this forum~a gun that has been "touched up." They lavish high praise on honest wear and that brings a premium in price. But refinish, or touch up an old Colt, and sacrilege has occurred!

A stainless revolver just never develops "character."

Sometimes I think a little too much is made of original finishes. The British would think nothing about sending a rifle or shotgun back to Holland & Holland, Westley-Richards, Purdey or the like for refurbishing. I was reading today about one of Theodore Roosevelt's Winchester `86's that he sent back to Winchester no less than five times for refinishing.

Well said.Thank You,
People seem to assume a bit too much based on preconceptions rather than the sum of the parts
Thanks for posting it, I really enjoyed looking at it. That is a very long wait time, and I bet it was very pricey too...
