What model Krider is this?

703 Views 3 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  haggis
This came in a Lot and I am trying to figure out what model of Krider Single Shot Percussion Rifle it is and about when it was made. It is about .40 CAL and very long. The only marking I can find on it is "Krider".

Does anyone have any info on these? Also, about what is the value?

TIA

Elliot, did you already buy at least one each of all Colt snubbies ever made, so that now you need a new area in which to focus your collecting efforts?

I am now into engraved Colt's. The Krider was part of an auction "Lot" I had to buy to get one. :-(

Elliot, yours is a rather simple example of a John Krider half-stock percussion rifle perhaps from the late 1860's. Some of his more elaborate, heavy rifles can fetch $5000 to $50,000 (exquisite patch boxes, tang sights, adjustable front signts, lots of engraving). I'd guess yours at about $2000± - I'm no real expert on Kriders, so if there is something special about it, it could be more.
