I was reading the post on the Henry Nettleton stamped SAA and it made me curious as to where the Colt inspector would have stamped my SAA. Gun is rather worn but only thing I can find is an H stamped on cylinder. Where should I be looking? Thanks...Dan

Look in the hammer slot. On '76's there should be a 'C', 'H', 'B' or possibly another letter. On my 3 1876's, one has a 'C', one has a 'H' and the other has a 'B'. Also under the ejector housing on the barrel there will be another letter, a 'C' usually I think.

Thanks Chaffee, do the different stamps indicate a particular inspector name? There is a C in the hammer slot and H on the cylinder. Thanks...

While I think that individual inspectors had their own stamp, I don't know if that stamp was their initial or not. I could be all messed up on this. Someone else will know however.
