So I'm looking into putting a sling on my 30-06 Pre-64 Winchester 70 and was wondering if you guys have any input. I am thinking it is going to be a military sling such as a Turner's Saddlery sling because I like that look. My question is what size (length) sling should I go with? I'm about 5' 11" 160lbs and the gun is a standard 24" rifle. I would like something that fits me and looks good on the rifle. Any input would be helpful thanks.

I have seveal Hunter leather military style slings, which might be the same as the Turner. They can be adjusted to any length and look "right" on those older rifles. If you want something a bit more comfortable get a newer padded adjustable one. Slings are like 1911 and AR parts: Everyone and their brother makes them.

You want a custom fit, probably the best...Les Tam Slings..

When you call he will get exact measurements from you.

I put one on my M1A, National Match and never looked back.

+1 on the pic above . That is the slings that I have on my model 70 Winchester,in .270. It is a very good sling and complements the rifle well.
