Here's another gun passed down to me. This is a first year 1903 Winchester in .22 Automatic caliber. Not long rifle. Only .22 Winchester automatic works in this gun. A few years back Aguila made a limited run of the stuff and I bought two boxes of it at $25 a box for my Dad one Christmas. He didn't fire any of it though so I put a box through it this weekend. I should have bought more ammo for it when they were still making it. This gun is fun! Maybe I need to buy it's successor in .22lr the model 63.
Anyway, this is a first year gun with no safety. Later they wisely put a crossbolt safety on the upper part of the trigger guard. Seems a little nuts that they didn't do this from the beginning on a semi-automatic rifle.
