I could afford wider window sills if I quit acquiring these things... then I wouldn't need wider window sills .
There is a word for that sort of circular situation. uh..

You and Hopalong should consider yourselves lucky. At least you have windowsills to photograph your pretty toys on :).

Or you could just start collecting Jennings', Ravens, or other small pistols that would fit !

Look on the bright side. Your guns are appreciating in value much faster than the housing market! :)

you made a good point with the sun. basically all the other windows in my house have things in front of them making photo taking a hassle. So to get the sunshine for good photos, all the picture taking has to be done in the morning. The windows on the front side, where the sun is in the afternoon, don't get the sunshine because of the porch roof, and the sunshine, that natural light is one thing that makes these photos taken in "Hopalong Format" .. window sill photos so good.

Tim's "Hopalong Format" is catching isn't it? HA! Bright, but overcast days can be good as well, not as much harsh contrast.
With a narrow window sill you have to prop the gun up against the glass and hope it doesn't slip and fall before you can take the picture

There's nothing quite like the fear of watching the gun slip and wondering if the window edge scratched it up! There are small Lucite stands you can purchase to prop the gun.

You're sure right about that Mr. Chaffee, and especially my friend Hoppy over here. He can put a dull old gun on that window sill of his and the photo comes out like it's a brand new gun, with shiny stuff all over it and everything.

I wish I knew how he does it, but I'm thinking he uses them trick guns.

I have a natural wood table next to the window I use sometimes but the best for me is to shoot on the porch because the roof cuts out sky glare-reflections on metal surfaces. I used a 4x4' white bounce card to catch the hard sun and bring it in soft on the gun. I only use soft bounce light, a tripod, long exposures and F 16-22 for max detail.
