Excellent! A dozen years ago I took an HBAR out to the desert in wyoming and with a little practice and some Kentucky windage was able to plink at large rocks/boulders 800 to 1000 yards away. Thanks for the link...I especially like where he said to think marksmanship and dont always try to get 15 rounds in a target 15 yards away in 1/2 second. Everybody I work with is into spray and pray and derides me for trying long range carefully thought out shots. This was refreshing to read.
Thanks, the more things i find like this i will post them.

I didnt intend to imply the violent action of 15 rounds in 15 seconds is not useful. But it has its place along with the more "traditional" marksmanship.

I also fired the M4 carbine to 1,000 yards if you are interested in the results from that

Fun reading. My friend and I took his 16 inch Rock River AR to 715 yards once. It had a 1X Trijicon Reflex II with the triangle reticle, and we were shooting at an 18 inch wide steel plate. Ammo was surplus Radway Green 62gr. with the penetrator (SS109.) Shooting was from sitting unsupported. Very light wind from the right. It took several shots to find where it was hitting, but figured it out pretty quickly with the help of the 10X scope on my Tikka .308. We were just plinking, so didn't count hits vs. misses. We had very few misses. The sight was zeroed with the tip of the triangle on at 100 yards, and at 715, the very bottom of the triangle was on for elevation. We were surprized at how flat shooting .223 was at that range.

We have a 1000 yard range where I am from here in Florida, I am going to get some 77 grain stuff and see what happens. I have a 6920 with a JP trigger that's about 4 pounds. I will let you all no if I hit any thing, it may take some practice and some time.
Shawnmt6601 thank your for your posts and articles, I love hearing positive outcomes from the M16/AR15 platforms.
