Hmmm...just wondering if the new Python grips will fit the older Pythons....would be nice if they do. Get genuine Colt Python wood grips directly from Colt. I guess time will tell.

Curious...in some of the pictures, it looks like the grips on the new Python are a laminated wood, a la Altamont grips on Rugers...has anyone got a better pic or seen the new grips? Are they laminate or solid (i.e., non laminate) walnut? FYI, called my LGS today and their allotment is 2...they are due early next week.

From the photos I see I would describe the stocks on the new Python as a modern interpretation of the originals. The checkering for all I know may be laser checkered or other machine done as others do. Look at what S&W is putting on the revolvers now...they look similar in appearance but in no way are they done like the older stocks.

The 2020 Python has Altamont laminated grips.

Altamont has been a major supplier of grips to the industry, and they made the last of the original Python grips as used in the late 1990's, sometimes known as "Excalibur" model grips.

Altamont Colt grips can usually be recognized by the sharp "step" on the speedloader cut at the top of the grip.
Altamont sells similar models with various Colt themes to other sellers.......
