I understand that but they’ve added $100 to msrp so they’re not giving them away. $100 X 1000 guns = $100,000. They’re not doing this for free.

I agree I like 2 vents but don’t think 3 would stop me. I just don’t know if I want a blued gun. I have quite a few and don’t shoot them as often as I go my stainless because I want to keep them looking as new as I can. I know that’s stupid but stainless is so easy to keep clean.

Here’s what the 4.25 should have looked like, Diamondback 22. 3 vents is too crowded. Perhaps if they’d made them smaller and put more space between them.

If I did break down and buy a blue one I’d probably wait for a 5” since I have a 3”, 4.25” and 6” stainless. 2.5” just doesn’t look right to me and 5” look about right and balance nicely.

I just picked up a new 6" today. The front of the cylinder release is blued, the trigger is blued and the hammer is blued. I'm guessing that's one way they've held costs down a bit on the new ones. I will say, though, that I'm just plumb tickled with the new gun. Finish is perfect, not a single flaw that I can see. It's very dark, almost black, and a lot like what you see on the Single Action Colts these days. I'd say it's perhaps not as "bright" as the classic, older Python but nearly identical to the later old models and very, very nice. Kudos to Colt. They got it right this time.

I saw one advertised with "Royal Blue" which is completely different from the ones here.
It was much lighter.
These look almost black in comparison.
Was the one I saw a custom job?

I think we are all having a little fun you know ....venting ......but serious NOT my 2.5 should have 2.5 vents and the slots powder coated baby blue metallic and see through grips and organic grease lube and a tiara barrel instead of a crown and budges instead of flutes and show chrome screws and a yellow case ......................................................................but that jus moi

Well I love the new blued version but one thing I still can't stand are the grips Colt puts on these pythons they don't do them Justice. They need to hook up with Deer Hollow and have him either produce the grips or they should copy them like he does. I have two stainless steel pythons that I put Deer Hollow grips on and they just look fantastic definitely looks old school. So what are you guys say am I correct or you can you guys live with the grips. I'm glad Colt finally listened after all these years what it took four years

To the best of my knowledge, Olle at Deer Hollow makes his grips by hand, in small batches. He doesn't have the capacity to make thousands. I prefer solid wood grips, but the new Colt laminated ones do feel good in the hand, if not particularly attractive.

I'm fine with Colt using the current grips. Most of us swap out the grips on our handguns anyway no matter what the factory uses.

Yep, my capacity is very limited so I simply can't make the amounts needed. Also, the methods I have to use are very time consuming compared with how Altamont does it, so there's no way I can compete with them price wise. On the other hand, Altamont's methods can't be used to make authentic reproductions, and that's why they make them like they do. However, I do have a good relationship with Colt's Custom Shop and they order presentation grips from me every now and then.

What's all the rage...why settle for a middle of the road (blue) that will always play second fiddle to the deep polished luster of the original 'Royal Blue' finish. Stick with the SST adaptation they got that right when they breathed life back into the modern-day Python.

How many have you seen in person? I have two and they're gorgeous. Bluing rivals the blue on my 10 year old SAA.

It's more 'black' than 'blue'. After owning an 8" 1980 'Royal Blue' Hunter Edition I make the comparison. For those newcomers to the Python line-up, they wouldn't truly know the difference.
