While it is illegal to purposely remove or alter the serial number on a firearm, serial numbers were not actually required prior to the 1968 Gun Control Act. If a firearm was originally manufactured without a serial number it is perfectly legal."

I have to clarify that the original serial number statement was not mine. The quotation was taken from the seller's description. I personally wouldn't touch the gun with a pole of ANY length. I was just curious as to what other opinions were...
