Did they ever do a 3” 3rd issue?
I've been searching for a E-Nickel 3" Detective Special now for over 20 years. I have yet to find any proof of their existence. Seems odd that the factory would have offered that finish in other models and barrel lengths of the time period (early 80's) but not the 3" DS. Here's the relatively scarce 2" Detective Special in E-Nickel:

It’s on !!!
I told the OP ( Oliver ) that the 3" versions were "slightly uncommon in my neck of the woods"...but not rare...which was his original question.

And I think just about everyone that has posted after my opinion, including snakeman99 above, has proved that...it's not rare.

Bottom Line: one member's opinion... to the contrary or not...doesn't change mine.

Well I think my 3" Pre war would be considered RARE......Post war are not real hard to find hard to find maybe scarce is a better description....

That still has to be the longest (oddest) exposed ejector rod I've ever seen on a Colt...

$1495 and purchased by our very own RR...
I hate it when the seller immediately removes the selling price. I always leave mine up and just mark the item sold.
