LGS showed me this 1970 Colt Detective Special with a three inch barrel, saying they’re quite rare in this configuration. Is that so ? It’s for sale at $ 595

I've been searching for a E-Nickel 3" Detective Special now for over 20 years. I have yet to find any proof of their existence. Seems odd that the factory would have offered that finish in other models and barrel lengths of the time period (early 80's) but not the 3" DS. Here's the relatively scarce 2" Detective Special in E-Nickel:

I told the OP ( Oliver ) that the 3" versions were "slightly uncommon in my neck of the woods"...but not rare...which was his original question.
And I think just about everyone that has posted after my opinion, including snakeman99 above, has proved that...it's not rare.
Bottom Line: one member's opinion... to the contrary or not...doesn't change mine.

Well I think my 3" Pre war would be considered RARE......Post war are not real hard to find hard to find maybe scarce is a better description....

Unfortunately I sold it back in 2018 for $2150. What a dummy... (me)! Today I could probably get twice that. At least if this is recent sale is "real":

That still has to be the longest (oddest) exposed ejector rod I've ever seen on a Colt...My Pre War 3" one of 12 so 11 more out there somewhere.....funny I collect DS's and this is the only 3" I own.....
