Hello,

Just picked this up and am curious if this is one of the infamous 300 special production police models. The serial numbers looks to be in that second batch of 200 made. Any information on this rifle would be great! My fear is the lower and upper are different finish, so I don't know if that is factory.

A1 upper
1/9 twist pencil barrel
QD in stock

Thoughts?

I only know a little about that Colt AR6320 model AR-15 Lightweight carbine.

It was a special limited production (300 units at first batch but only 297 were made (maybe more later) only for Ken Elmore owner of Specialized Armament Warehouse (AZ) back during the ban maybe around 2001 or so.

Since that time there was a ban so they were not available for civilians.

They were sold to mostly police departments, New Mexico state was the biggest buyer and they were also sold to individual police officers.

After the ban ended CDNN (TX) and GB sold some of them.

One other thing that I noticed, your buttstock doesn't match the period of the carbine of early 2000s.

It should have a standard M4 waffle type stock, maybe it was replaced by the previous owner.

The ones you shown with the quick detachable sling mount are newer version made by P&S around 2013 and on.

I have one that is flat new. From the second shipment of 90 guns on 4/29/02. Mine has an A2 fixed Buttstock. Being from Hartford and having many friends and Relatives who worked in the plant I can assure you that what got pulled out of the Bin down in assembly is what went on the gun. They didn't trow anything away.If the government deemed parts Obsolete they went on civillian guns. Doing my research for the SP1 Book I came across multiple instances of very early SP1 Parts that went on guns built in the mid 70's

Sent pics to Ken Elmore and he said it is authentic besides the stock and sights. ... Anyone know what authentic sights to put on? I asked him, but haven't heard back yet.
I'm just guessing it's the improved A1 aperture with the larger close range aperture, since it was made very late in 2002 (the A1 was dropped in the '80s).

Just wait what Ken says, he's the seller and configured that model so he should know.

You might want to order the sight and buttstock from them, they're a great seller of genuine Colt parts.

I Believe that they came with 3 different stocks. Mine is in the 2nd shipment (90) which went out 4/29/02 so it was definitely not one of the guns that made it to the Olympics. It went to Specialized Armament in Chandler AZ. The Letter Lists it as having a Adjustable stock. It Does Not. It has a standard A2 rifle stock. The Rifle is Brand New and there is no sign of the epoxy that would be where the castle nut should be staked to the frame. They were usually pretty sloppy with that. Between that and the condition I'm pretty sure nothing has been changed. I have also seen Pictures of them with M4 stocks as well as the earlier (smaller Collapsible stocks commonly found on early Govt. Carbines and 9mm's. I have contacted Colt archives about the stock and rear sight (oversize leaf) Questions and Beverly Replied with a request for Pictures and said that she would look into it... I'm sure that I will hear something eventually. It is possible that there were change orders than never got into the records. It took several months for the letter so I am assuming that they are slammed and this is not the norm. so I will wait....... Bruce
