I may be the dissenting opinion, but I have owned three Kimbers; a full-size Eclipse, a Desert Warrior, and one of their compact models, I can't remember which model. All three of those guns are gone and I will never buy another Kimber. I don't believe their guns are built as well as other manufacturers, and in my hands, they would not shoot as well, or as reliably, as my Colts, Paras, and RIAs. The only gun that came close to being as poor as the Kimber was a Taurus; it was much more reliable, but its accuracy was terrible.
I started shooting 1911s in competition, both bulls-eye and combat style, in 1978 and I know how they work and what they should do. The Kimbers I have owned just haven't performed at the same level as my other 1911s. And as others have stated, their customer service is horrible. For the price they charge, you should get a better product from Kimber. I would not recommend them to a friend.
