Chuck, glad to oblige, I read a lot of your stuff on the S&W.
As you may know DBs were made from 1966 to 1986 with D being the first in a series of S/Ns
Your DB was made in 1975.
Unlike Smiths there is no data on Colt serialization after 1985.
One good book is "The Colt Heritage" by R.L. Wilson.
Wilson also puts out a little blue pocket book called "Dates of Manufacture" but only goes up to 1978, these are usually $5.00 at gunshows.

By the way, any DBs in 2 1/2" configuration are becoming increasingly scarce and thus driving the prices.
