Any help with identifying the providence of this 1851 Navy . It was shipped to Landcaster Pa in 1861 as a lot of 100 . It was purchased by Union solider with the initials T.B. ( they are carved in the LEFT grip bottom ) on the inside of the grip is a pencil signature that is unreadable. Logic dictates that the buyer was most likely a Pennsylvania resident who enlisted . On the right grip bottom are the initials TK with pencil signature that appears to be Thomas Kirk ( which could be short for Kirkpatrick, King ,or keen ) or some other 4 or 5 letter last name you can read CSA can’t make out the rest )
The information I was given states it belonged to a confederate Capt who removed it from a union soldier from Pennsylvania, who was sent to POW Camp . The Confederate soldier survived the war and died in old soldiers home in Va in 1918. I was told the Confederate soldier was in Army of Northern Va probably Calvary and fought in 18 , 26 or 28 battles including Gettysburg , Petersburg , Wilderness among others .Unfortunately the former owner has passed so that’s a dead end so to speak . SN 111940 Made 1861 .
I travel for living and I am gone 320 to 340 days a year, therefore , I have no available pictures at this time . All I have is a Colt letter and some sketchy notes that are the source of what I do know, so any help or suggestions would be appreciated be greatly appreciated . Thanks

When I get back home in late November I will post some pictures and the colt letter
My thoughts were search death certificates of former confederate soldiers who passed in 1918 at old soldiers home in Va and possibly NC . Hopefully I can trace the revolver backwards from there . Apparently no surviving family members knew what regiment their ancestor served in . I do know where it was and whom possessed it from 1919 until 1984 when it was purchased at auction from a storage facility and from then until I acquired it in 2022 .
I am open to any suggestions or recommendations that may help
I have a possible new lead from the Confederate POW camp at Salisbury Nc as to the Union soldier who originally purchased it in Pennsylvania

I know I have another 1851 that belonged union Michigan regiment officer captured at Perryville Ky . This revolver was purchased in Dearborn Michigan area I also have a great deal of providence as to its history. Can say with 95%certainty it was with the Confederate first Sargent ( Louisiana ) from Perryville Ky to Gettysburg to Appomattox .

Again if anyone has even a suspicion please let me know . You never know what thread leads to unraveling the mystery . The Louisiana Colt took 2 years and a lot of patience but I did not have access to to you fine folks at Colt Forum

Again thanks to everyone
