Howell conversion cylinders

This started last week at deer camp when one of the guys showed off his great grandfather's 1892 38 Long Colt. Grandad carried it on Pershing's expedition against Pancho Villa, even had the original holster. I sent him off to Colt to gather more information, but I also promised to rustle up some ammo. I found ammo (wadcutter cowboy loads) and reloading supplies at Buffalo Arms in Idaho, but they also had a Howell conversion cylinder for the Pietta repop of Colt's 1851 Navy, which I have. So I bought that, too. I already have one of their cylinders for my replica 1858 Remington, and I've had no problems. So, any experience with shooting 38 Long Colt from a replica 1851 with a conversion cylinder? I will start with some 148 gr Hornady HBWC, figuring they have some flexiblity in bore size. Note that I don't know which bore my hunting buddy has. I have loaded 41 Long Colt heeled bullets, and I've read that some folks load heeled in 38 Long Colt as well. Rather not go there if I don't have to, though. Advice and experience is requested!
