That looks familiar....

I have one identical to that, except it's #7890.

I wonder if anyone here can direct me to where I can get some info on this pistol. I have been searching and can't seem to narrow down what the origin of this gun is. Is it a Nagent? A Husky? Thanks for any leads or info.

Hi Guys

Nice to hear about your interest in Swedish Husqvarna Nagant. The first Swedish Nagants were made by the Nagant factory in Liege. If there is anything you want to know about them and their ammo, don`t hesitate to contact me.Without bragging,l know most of what`s worth to know about these items.I am a collector and live in Sweden.

All the best/Peter

How are the Gun Laws in Sweden? as they apply to private persons who have small Collectionf of older Arms?

How are the Concealed Carry Laws over there?

Concealed carry is strictly forbidden here in Sweden. The gun laws are quite strict here.First of all you must have an approved gun cabinet if you are going to collect guns attended for cartridges. You must have a permit (FAC) for each gun.The police are very restrictive when it comes to handgun certificates, but if you can convince them about your interest and you are a law abiding person it all works out for the best in the end.Percussion revolvers are free here and so are airguns up to 8fpe.

Hi Spedini,

Thanks for the info on Gun ownership and CCW in Sweden.

The five Nagant design Revolvers shown in the image above - are they all chambered for the same Cartridge?

What was the Cartridge for these?

I like the Cylinder Flute style on these...

Hi Oyeboten

Yes,they are chambered for the same cartridge 7,5mm Swedish Nagant. It`s in the same class as 32 S&W long. The first cartridges for it had paper patched lead bullets and loaded with blackpowder.Later on they were loaded without paper patching.I have many Geco produced cartridges in original boxes made in april 1941(71years old) that I`m shooting with. They are just as good as when they were fresh making out 820fps on my chrono.Norma smokeless loads are about 700fps.These are magnificent and well made revolvers.

I have seen a few of the Swedish Nagants at Gunshows over the years, and they are very beautiful Revolvers.

Of course the market eventually was flooded with the C.C.C.P. versions, and, those depresssed me. They have tended to be very reasonably priced even when in almost mint condition.

The pre 'revolution' Russian Czarist era ones do not depress me, but they tend to be priced a lot higher than the C.C.C.P. ones and or have been re-stamped and poorly cared for in how things went over there.

I would own a Swdeish one though, they have a very nice mood to them, and their fit and finish is superb.

Here are a couple photos of my Swedish M1887, mine was made by Nagant in Belgium, it is my understand they made something like 2400 (just guessing at what I think I read) and then Husqvarna took over production. The serial number is 294 and it has inspectors mark of JB. All the parts including the cylinder have matching serial numbers.

The cylinder has the Belgium black powder mark on the cylinder.

I would be interested in any information you would be willing to share.

Tom

Looks very nice to me Tom.The Swedish order to Nagant Brothers were of 2600 revolvers. After that Husqvarna in Sweden took over 1897-1905 and made 14089 revolvers. The inspector mark on your revolver stands for Johan Brandt. We have blackpowder competitions here in Sweden and many of the shooters are using the 1887 Nagant.By the way,the Belgian Nagants and especially "Tornells" make premium price in Sweden. All of the Swedish 1887 Nagants have increased in value the last few years. As a curiosity Lietunant Sixten Sparre was using 1887 Nagant revolver in the movie ELVIRA MADIGAN filmed from a true sad story taking place in Sweden and Denmark around 1900.

I just inherited a large gun collection from my dad and I'm doing some research on them since I have virtually no idea what I have. I came across this thread and just created an account as soon as I saw this picture because it turns out I have #7895. Apologies for the crappy iphone pics but it's the only camera I own.

I also know almost nothing about this gun (or any of the 16 other various guns my dad owned) but I thought this was kind of a cool coincidence.

ninja edit: How do I make the attachments actually show as pictures in the post? vBulletin seems to have incremented several versions since the last time I posted to a forum. . .
