I'm a bit of a holster addict, and a big fan (and customer) of the holsters from Milt Sparks. Dragged out this pic this morning to set as an avatar for The Colt Forum, so I thought I'd post it up. Series 70 Colt Government Model in an elephant trimmed Axiom from Milt Sparks Holsters.

TBone, that is a beautiful rig but if it has elephant trim on the holster, shouldn't it have ivory grips? Nah, I'm just jerking your chain, that rig would look good with "Early American Ammo Crate" grips! Nick

Lol. Well, a chicken and egg sort of thing. Bought the Axiom for my (most often carried) Wilson Combat CQB. Then one night I was cruising eBay and stumbled onto a bunch of nice looking sambar stag grips. Bought this pair without thinking where they were going, then when they arrived realized I didn't want to ditch the grips on any of my 1911s. The search for a nice used series 70 Colt soon ensued... But ivory? Yep, been thinking of a pair. And Colt is making some really nice old school 1911s again. Hmm... :D

Very nice.
I use Sparks, Kramer, and Ken Null holsters. Today, there are many other excellent holster makers, but I stick with 3 I know to be superb. No reason for me to change brands.

I use a lot of Kramer IWB #2s for semi autos. I recently bought 2nd hand, but unused VMII for my Glock 36 45acp. I have to admit it is slightly more comfortable than the Kramer #2 IWB. But, it's big plus is that for heavier guns the weight is distributed better due to the long separation between the belt loops. I don't bother with the "tuckable" clips. Blousing a large gun under a shirt seems like a contradiction in terms to me.

Congratulations.

I love the VMII, have around 6 in various finishes and for different guns. If you like those, you may want to try the new Nexus (5 degrees more cant and rides a bit lower in the pants, no throat patch or metal stiffener so it's thinner/more comfortable). I have 2 (3 inch and 5 inch 1911s) and a third on order for a Glock 19.

I have a ton of Sparks leather, OWB, IWB and pocket. Got in the habit of always having one or two in the que when their wait was at 6 months (down to 3-4 months now). The short Nexus was my most recent, immediately preceded by a Summer Special for the Single Action Army. Hmm, I think I'm gonna have to snap some pics and write some posts for this section!

Love Sparks holsters. I mostly use my Summer Specials for various 1911's and a 'Roadrunner' for OWB carry or occasionally as a loaner to students. Met Milt at Gunsite back in the 90's.
