Nice gun - perfect condition to be able to shoot and enjoy, while still admiring some color and finish from back in the day. Great caliber as well.

 

I agree that's one you can slap leather with and no worries.

It is a nice looking later gun. What year was it built. It has enough condition to enjoy looking at while a shooting session will do no harm. I am a real fan of the 7 and 1/2 inch barrels.

A nice looking 7-1/2" Colt SAA. Made after 1911, from what I can see. What caliber?

 

It is a 38-40. I had to enlarge the picture to see it.

Congrats on acquiring a hard to find .38-40 with 7 1/2" barrel. You did the right thing in my opinion.
I had to look a long time for mine and had to pay a heavy price for mine from 1909.

 

Thank you, obviously liked it better than the other I was considering.
The really tough ones to find are the 7 1/2 38-40 black powder guns.

It is. I’m thinking a light strike as it shows no sign of refinish.
Gonna be doing some comps on other guns of the same era.

 

For a well used 1890s gun, that sure has nice markings.

 

My only 1st Gen shooter is this 1924 38-40…with targets. The 44-40 NF is no slough either.

My pair of 7.5" .38-40 SAAs. Modern gun is one of the Turnbull finished Colt SAAs with the special DT serial number with Persinger ivory. The other is straight factory from 1897.
