The frame pins are pressed in.

WARNING: Replacement REQUIRES a special press with custom-made support dies and special contoured press-punches. Attempting replacement without the support dies will distort the frame.
So will trying to drive the pins out.

Pythons are WAY too valuable these days to be ruining a frame.

 

No problem then.I will make a support and driver for it.I do this type of stuff all the time in my work as an aircraft machinist.This is the same gun I asked about the INS markings.I got the gun real cheap and it had been reblued.The joker who did it ground down the head of all the pins.He did a good job by not sanding off any markings and the color is nice too,but I was a bit amazed at why he had sanded off the pins flush with the sideplate.Now to get new pins,or make new pins and then get them reblued to match the rest of the gun,,,two pins and one screw.I might be lucky though as now the sideplate wont be dished in as you see some.

 

Ham-fisted rebluers often polish down the pin heads simply because it's easier to polish the frame if you don't have to work around the domed pins.
Needless to say, this is a sure sign of a hack.

I'm surprised he didn't degrade the gun from over-polishing, since this is typical when they take shortcuts like this.

The support dies can be made of brass or aluminum, but make SURE to keep the faces of them absolutely CLEAN, since any grit at all will mar the side plate.

For punches, make sure they fit snuggly, but not tight down over the pins so they fully support them without allowing anything to flex.
