Scope Base for 2021 Colt Anaconda

I know the 2021 Colt Anaconda 8-inch 44 Magnum frame comes drilled and tapped for mounting a scope.

Since I am contemplating adding a scope to my Anaconda, my first question is: 1) Any recommendations for a scope base? I am guessing that someone makes a Picatinny rail which will work however I am having trouble finding the right candidate. For instance, the jackweigand.com website lists a WEIG-A-TINNY® style scope mount for Anaconda/Python/King Cobra/Trooper BUT it specifically mentions that it "Does not fit 2021 Model Revolvers. It will fit model year 2020 and older." I have heard from someone who called Colt that the new rail for the Anaconda will only be available through Midway USA and Brownells.

Second Question: 2) I'll probably try to find a Leupold M8 2x20mm EER Handgun Scope. Anybody have experience with this scope (I think it's an older model) that might be able to provide their thoughts on it? Or else, does anyone have a particular pistol scope they like better? Thanks!

Thanks Docinpa. After some creative searching I found a base/rail that fits my 2021 Colt Anaconda. It attaches over the existing rib. Fits my 8" barrel like a glove and apparently fits 6" barrels too. As a bonus, you can still see the sights under the rail so it is see-through! Mine was painted matte silver (annodized). Here are some photos:

Here's a link showing what I bought. Pretty reasonable for what you get, in my opinion.

Revolver Scope Base Rail for Colt Anaconda Python Taurus 689 with 6-8" non-ported vent rib barrel

A revolver scope base rail in stainless chrome silver finish for the above listed Colt and Taurus revolvers. The rail has 19 ring slots which make it easier to set up eye relief and find more desired placement of scopes or red dot sights on top of the revolver. No drilling is needed. The scope rail is clamped onto the vent rib on the non-ported barrel of 6" to 8" using the hex screws and two steel tabs. The steel tab goes through the openings underneath the vent rib and clamp down by tightening the hex screws. Top rail is compatible with weaver style rings and also will mount red dot sights with weaver style mount. Machined from extruded aluminum alloy. Mounting screws are included with the unit.

Rail type: weaver

Number of ring slots: 19

Overall length: 7 1/2”

Finish: Anodized matte stainless silver

Weight: 2.8oz

Thankyou for the information. Are you able to post some pictures of your scoped Anaconda? Is the mount sturdy? Do you know if it marks the rib very much? How does it shot? Thanks, Rod
As a test fit I mounted the base/rail onto the Anaconda and it is very secure. On each end, two screws go through a small metal plate. Each plate has a V-shaped notch along one edge which aligns with and presses tightly against the vent rib strut. (When I mount it for real I plan to use Blue Loctite on the threads.) So far it doesn't seem to mark the top of the rib but I guess I won't know for sure until I have everything together. My scope is still on order. When it arrives I will post pictures of it.

Shoot again, I received my Anaconda rail base. I must have received a bad rail base. I had a lot of trouble with one of the base plates. With a lot of effort, I got it to fit. I will be happy when the receiver base is produced. For now I will use the rail mount. For now I couldn’t recommend the base. I would save the 60.00 dollars and not give it to the Chinese. Will give more feedback when I get the Anaconda to the range. For now , the base ready and mounted with blue Locite... Could wait much longer as Pa deer season starts this Saturday.
Hi Docinpa - Sorry to hear about your troubles with the imported rail base. Perhaps I got the luck of the draw. I played with the metal plates on mine a couple of times until I figured out how to make it fit and mount securely. I wish you well with Pa. deer season. Let me know how it goes.

BTW - B-Square made a similar base rail and the part number is #42529. I'm sure theirs was made in the USA and possibly of better quality. Although it's a bit of a rare beast, they show up from time to time on eBay or the like. Attached are photos of the B-Square rail/base. I believe it will work on the Anaconda and Python.

OK, my CVH8 Weaver 2.5-8 X 28mm Scope finally arrived and I mounted it on my 8" Anaconda. The photos are attached.

Scope mounting to the rings and base/rail seems very solid. The proof will come, of course, when I take it to the range for a test and for sighting in. The nice thing is, I can continue to use the iron sights as well as the Scope since there's a clear line of sight under the base/rail.

My question is, there is just a small gap between each end of the scope and the base/rail (I've circled it in red in two of the photos). It's enough of a gap that I can place a dollar bill in the space and move it freely without getting caught up on anything. Is this enough gap to safely use the scope as I've mounted it, or should I order taller scope rings to give more separation? Thanks for any advice or input you can provide.

Hi Docinpa - Glad you are happy about how the Anaconda shoots! I suspect I will be also. The 2" group at 75 yards sounds great - I hope I can get something close to that. All the best to you with Pennsylvania deer season! I have hopes of taking a deer and a feral hog with my Colt. We'll see what happens.
