The set of grips that came on my Python (DOB 67') a fairly light colored compared to many I've seen. But mine don't have the bit of stripping that the one side has on this set.
Near the end of production of the original types of Colt target grips, the color got lighter and lighter.
I've seen some later versions that were blond or a strange orange-blond.
It was along about then that you also started to see grips with defects and mis-fit corrected with a tan colored patching material.
Uch. I assume that was just quality control slipping?
Did colt usually make the grips themselves?
