Here is my nickel Colt DS from 1975. Funny story about acquiring it. We had a barn sale in 2018 and one guy asked if we had any gun stuff for sale. I said no but asked if he did. He said yes - this Colt. So later that afternoon, I met him at his house, looked the pistol over and bought it.
I wish I have the luck like that. Nice revolver. I have 4" Diamondback, but always want to find a short barrel D-frame revolver.

Here's my latest D-frame; a Police Positive Special, circa 1925, chambered for .32-20 WCF, with 4" barrel and nickel finish.

Just so happens I picked up this D Frame circa 1939 Colt Detective Special this morning...

The Hopkins Sporting Good Company mentioned in the Colt Archive Letter above is still in business...

Our History
Hopkins Sporting Goods, Inc. has been in business for more than 110 years. It started as a hardware, hunting, and fishing store. Soon after opening, a corner of the store began selling athletic items. Actual catalogs containing uniforms and equipment from 1909 and 1910 are still in existence today at the store.

The business evolved over the years selling more athletic items and less hardware hunting and fishing. Around 1980, Hopkins began selling only athletic equipment and clothing.

Today, Hopkins Sporting Goods, Inc. is still Iowa's oldest sporting goods store. It is locally owned and provides equipment and uniforms throughout the state. Hopkins is a one-stop sporting goods supplier.
