Looking for an engraver to enhance the lettering and Colt logo on a SAA receiver. The photo shows it better then what it is about 80% distortion. Thank you for your help.

The #4 post shows that they do lots of engraving, but you're looking for
a restoration of lettering and logo. That's something that Turnbull can
do. However, from the looks of your piece, I think it would not be worthwhile
to tamper with it. Have it either blued or case colored and call it a day.

If I spent the money I'd put a nut sack and make it a stallion . I like to play with such things , guns that is .o_O

This one was enhanced by the engraver to duplicate a pre 1912 "circle pony" trade mark gun.

I suggested Adam's. But any skilled engraver can chase the patent dates and the Rampant Colt on a frame. I know for a fact that Turnbull quite often uses the Adam's shop for such jobs, having worked with both over the last 30 years. 1st hand, known product, which is why I suggested them.

If the gun is to be eventually engraved, I'd just have your engraver recut what ever you don't like. If the gun is to be left plain and colored cased, I'd not bother, as what you "see" will never show up any way under case colors. If the gun is to be nickeled? Then make yourself happy and get it recut to your satisfaction. Silver plate will fill in any engraving some what, so I'd not bother if using silver either.

Your right I think I will just leave it as is and just have it case color the frame and blue the rest. I just purchased the gun last week. It had some rust on it also in the deep areas of the engraving. It's all cleaned up now the barrel and cylinders were clean no rust. I like the carbona blue on your COLT who does that work?

It's a terrific gun, but not factory engraved. It was originally shipped to Kiesler Police Supply in Jeffersonville, Indiana in 1997. The label on the end of the white outer box has two names written on it. One is Ed Cercone and the other is Dennis Kies. I figure the gun was bought by Cercone and sent to Kies for engraving. I heard that Mr. Cercone passed away a few years ago. I sent a letter to my last known address of Mr. Kies, but it came back as undeliverable. If anyone has an address other than East Hartford CT, I would appreciate knowing about it.
I'm going to post more photos one of these days, but other things seem to keep getting in the way.

I like a engraved gun, only had a couple and they were cheaply done. Personally, I think a half engraved or 1/4 is very nice, just a bit but not to much
