These are possibly the best looking colts released...but I found the fit and finish of mine to be so lackluster I had to let it go. If it was built as well as the WWI reissue I just snagged, I would have been ecstatic. Mine also had a burr on the front sight that was a little disappointing. Seeing what people are doing to theirs makes me KINDA wish I kept mine, but I will be sending my reissue out for pretty much the same mods...but executed better/more refined.

Maybe CZ should Bring in some of the people from Dan Wesson to do a little refresher course on how to Build great guns

Man this is what I have been thinking since the "merger"

DW has solidly established themselves as, IMHO, THE mid tier 1911. Part quality, fit and finish and functionality are great. Price is easing up there but they are still relatively affordable.

I think that if this "Limited Edition" was essentially a Dan Wesson Valor, blued, with that Colt Rollmark and was priced at hell even double the Colt's price, it would be a real nice piece.

I'm sure there are people that like to tinker but personally, I would rather see colt produce a higher quality pistol at a higher price point. I feel like in the arena of "high quality" 1911s, colt is pretty much never brought up lately. What I find the most upsetting about them is I've heard people say that some of these pistols were fit well but they handled another and it was a rattle trap. The inconsistency that I'm reading about is disappointing, and I just can't express how let down I felt when I held a 2011 Anniversary and a 2004 mfg Reissue Colt and they felt SO much better. We are 20 years since the production of that reissue and they have seriously gone backwards in quality, in my opinion. While being a sister company to essentially the best production shop 1911 company out there.

Give me a SPECIAL COMBAT GOVERNMENT carry over CZ Wesson , or any Wesson.
You might want to look at who owns that company.. Then compare quality reviews. I grew up 5 miles from the plant and had many friends/ family there, but that was then and this is now... You can only live on a name recognition for so long
