And here are my 4 "modern" full size Colts:
Yeah, I know it's a terrible picture. I hate these phone cameras.

Top let: new Limited Edition
Top right: Series 70 with the mirror polished flats from 2010
Bottom right new Series 70 from earlier this summer
Bottom left: new 1911 "Classic" from earlier this summer

I just received one of the SE-A1 pistols and mine seems to have a good slide to frame fit. Shoots pretty good too.
suspecting a plastic MSH I bught an EGW checkered MSH and it is about .015 too long and rubs on the grip safety. I've installed several Ed Brown flat smooth mainspring housings, and they are a drop-in part.
I shot factory UMC 230 grain FMJ, 185 grain FMJ, some UMC 230 HP as well as some Winchester Silvertips, then some reloads.
I have three new Colt's, and they are all nice. The CLASSIC .45 was one of the first Colt Government Model pistols I have held that feel like the original M1911A1. I have the CLASSIC .38 Super, and now this Limited Edition.
I had an XSE LWT Government Model and then the steel framed XSE, this SE-A1 is nicer than either one.

Nice looking pistol, I'm sure it'll shoot just fine. Appearance-wise, I like the checkered thumb safety, slide release, and mag release. Definitely like the checkered front strap, but have to wonder...Colt gave the pistol a flat MSH...but a serrated one. Wonder why they didn't just stick a checkered one on there, just for uniformity's sake? I notice it looks like Colt's redesigned the Rampant Colt, too. At least on this particular gun.

Congratulations on your new pistol. It should give years of quality service, fun, and some powerful home protection if needed.

EDIT: Just noticed this thread's from last year. Oh, well, better late than never I guess.
