E-nickel is an outstanding finish...superior to stainless steel in some respects.

I have never owned an E-nickel finished gun. I'm guessing the are much less likely to show fingerprints and easier to keep looking good?

What I've seen with some Colt e-finish guns is that some are polished better than others prior to the e-nickel being applied and it gives a more "frosted" look to them. That frosted look starts to get polished smooth from holster wear after a time. I have a Lawman Mark III 4" like that...the finish is shiny around the sides of the muzzle from such wear.

My 4" Python that has the e-nickel finish has no such problem...Colt did a beautiful job of finishing it...but I would expect that with a Python.

That 1952 DS has per-war grips and frame. Interesting.
Are you sure about the grips and frame? According to both Colt and to Proof House, the s/n (615251) dates to 1952 for a Detective Special. It also has the 2nd Issue modified front sight. Someone once said that it should be wearing Coltwood grips, but the walnut are just fine with me!
